Call for new Board Members

send + receive is an international festival that investigates the disciplines of experimental music and sound art, and is one of the longest standing media arts festivals in North America focusing exclusively on sound-based work. It presents an invaluable opportunity for showcasing the innovative work of Manitoban, Canadian and international artists. send + receive addresses the need for a critical and intimate platform for audio based art locally, nationally & internationally.

With the challenges of our innovative artistic program and ambitious development plans, we are now inviting applications to fill positions on our Board of Directors as Secretary and Members-at-Large. We are also seeking motivated individuals invested  in furthering our financial sustainability committee. Experience in the non-profit sector, with grant writing, fundraising and fiscal management are assets that would benefit our board.

Individuals with experience in the arts and/or public relations, (media/social media, broadcasting, sales, advertising, web-development, journalism, and/or publishing sectors) and Board members that can bring a unique skill set (legal experience, project management, volunteer coordination, outreach and engagement expertise) that would benefit an arts organization are encouraged to apply. Previous experience on Boards is an asset but not required as this is an opportunity for growth in the non-profit arts sector; thoughtful input and volunteer support is integral to our continued success

Ideal candidates should have an interest in sound art, even if limited in experience with this particular discipline. Candidates must have an active interest in seeing the festival succeed and grow, and be willing to advocate on its behalf.

As we seek to achieve send + receive’s vision, each member is requested to dedicate at least one day per month on a voluntary basis to provide strategic expertise and fresh, innovative thinking. This can be a very rewarding experience in terms of creating a social network between organizations with complementary mandates.
