Announcing Alleyways 2024
send + receive is pleased to announce our returning participation in the Alleyways series, in partnership with the Exchange District BIZ. On three Fridays in June, July, and August, join us in the alleyway at 189 Bannatyne Avenue (behind the Pantages Theatre) for free, outdoor performances spanning all kinds of experimental and ambient music.
On June 21st at 7:30pm, hear the new duo Myth Instruction—industrial ambient by Leigh Lugosi and Tim Alexander. This debut performance blends metallic electronics, field recordings, droning lap steel, and deep, dark, lo-fi beats: this is music to howl to.
On July 19th at 7:30pm, cherished label Makade Star presents a performance from STUD. STUD is the environmental noise moniker of Austin Marts, a Minnesota-based sound and visual artist focused on field recordings, destructive tape loops, and amplified wood. Influenced by early American junk noise, Marts’ saturated blasts of sound mimics a massive burl oak crashing against the forest floor.
On August 23rd at 7:00pm, Makade Star presents Shadow Pattern, Body of Intrigue, and Camping with Bret. Nathan Ivanco’s Shadow Pattern, based in Hamilton, Ontario, subjects stripped-down samples to the crudest electronic processing; bathed in tape hiss and rife with eerie, indelible themes. Body of Intrigue is the experimental entity of Adara Moreau, incorporating field recordings and natural resources with minimal noise and waves of ambient sound. Camping with Bret is a three piece noise?improv?art?camping? collaboration. No other information is provided.
